PROJECT 01

NANGA MAI ~ 'to dream'

TYPE:
University Project - BAEN3002 Urban Capstone project

BRIEF:
The assessment drew our attention to the new fish market development in Pyrmont, Sydney, NSW. As the existing fish market is being moved to the adjacent landmass, the old site invited opportunities for urban planning and urban design to flourish, needing answers as to what to do now with the remaining empty space.

PROJECT 02

BREATHE

TYPE:
University Project - BAEN3001 Design Integration Lab: Urban

BRIEF:
The assessment required us, as a group, to perform an extensive urban analysis of Newtown, located in NSW, Australia, and to propose numerous urban interventions as a response to discovered issues. The project interventions should explore a significant goal and purpose, whilst resolving the issues at hand to ensure a successful design outcome.

PROJECT 03

APPS

BRIEF:
The focus was on improving digital modelling and prototyping skills by fabricating a scaled portable/deployable shelter. The shelter should have a total area of approximately 3m x 3m and provide shelter for two to four people. The student is free to define a specific context and function for their deployable shelter. The final model will include a scaled 1:10 composite model, and a 1:1 or 1:2 detail model.

PROJECT 04

SUB ZERO

TYPE:
University Project - BAEN2002 Design Integration Lab: Energy

BRIEF:
This studio will focus on the ways that buildings respond effectively to people's environmental needs, while minimising net energy use in buildings. Students will learn how to integrate and design the thermal, luminous and acoustic environment of a building.
The project is an introduction to sustainable design through a standard house renovation based in Sydney.

BRIEF:
This project focused on indoor Environmental Quality and how it may affect people's experience and perception of their surrounding built environment. We were exposed to key IEQ dimensions, including thermal, visual and acoustic comfort and indoor air quality, as well as understanding the importance of adjustable workspace design.
The selected building was redesigned (2 floors) to be used as an office space, for an emerging tech company in Sydney.

PROJECT 05

ADJUSTABLE WORKSPACE DESIGN

TYPE:
University Project - BADP3001 Designing for Environmental Quality

BRIEF:
The project explores the fundamentals of building technologies with an emphasis on performance evaluation and materials. It features a home design based on pure structural integrity and building schematics.
